Luxury Wallet Leather

Find out more about the luxurious leather I use in my Leaderfoot Range.

Supporting and buying from UK businesses is really important to me.

 ·       It supports our local economy

·       It’s better on the environment – less miles to travel.

·       We have a great heritage of manufacturing quality products and materials.

In this series you get to know the other British businesses you’re supporting when you buy from Roslyn Whiting Leathercraft.

Most quality hand-stitched wallets are made from thicker leathers than machine stitched wallets.  I realise that not everyone who appreciates handmade leather goods wants a thick wallet.  If that sounds like you then the Leaderfoot Range is perfect for you.

I have specifically chosen this beautiful British tanned smooth grained calfskin as its only 1mm thick, great quality, luxuriously soft, vegetable tanned and develops a beautiful patina the more you use it.

I source the calfskin direct from the tannery Harmatan & Oakridge Leathers.  They are based in Northamptonshire and predominately tan leather for the bookbinding industry.

As their leather is vegetable tanned, its gentler on the environment and means that it can be hand-tooled.  All the Leaderfoot Range can be personalised with initials or a design.  Personalised products are popular for bespoke gifts. Get in touch if you wish to find out more details.

Since starting the Leaderfoot Range, it has grown to include Journals and Page Cuffs.  The Page Cuffs are made from the offcuts of the larger products.  This is such beautiful leather I don’t want to waste any of it.  I have even more ideas of what I can use offcuts for and will be developing those products soon.

If you would like any samples please get in touch.  You will be surprised at how lovely this leather is.

Care and attention

If the leather gets wet let it dry out naturally – DON’T PUT IT NEAR A HEAT SOURCE LIKE A RADIATOR as this will damage the leather.
