Made from the finest oak tanned leather from Britain's last remaining oak bark tannery J&JF Baker & Co.  It takes longer to tan using English Oak bark, around 12 months, but it makes a stronger leather.  The belt is all hand-stitched using the finest French linen thread, which is twisted in a way to give it extra strength.

All these things give you a quality belt that you can enjoy wearing, not only does it look good but feels good too.

The belt gets its name from the Oakwood Burn that runs down near the Eildon hills in Melrose.  A burn in Gaelic means fresh water.  The name of this burn is perfect for my belts as they are made from leather tanned from oak bark.

I work in a sustainable way, holding only a small amount of stock, with most Oakwood Burn Belts being made to order.  This means I can give you the personal touch making a product specially for you and in the size you require.  Please allow up to 2 - 3 weeks for your order.  However, if you need it quicker please let me know or check out my In-Stock store.

Measurements

The best way to know what size of belt to order is to measure a current belt used by yourself or the person it’s for. To find out more check out How to know what belt size to order.

Care and attention

The leather may feel a bit stiff at first but it quickly softens and develops a beautiful patina the more you use it.  Sometimes you might find a white bloom appears on the surface of the leather this is just some of the natural (fish) oils that the tannery applies to condition the leather.  If it’s not been used for a while then the oils come to the surface.  If you take a soft cloth and rub the surface the heat will make the oils go back into the leather.  If the leather gets wet let it dry out naturally – don’t put it near a heat source like a radiator as this will damage the leather.
